100 Motor Study

This study is a preliminary investigation of the efficiency of motors in industrial settings with the purpose of updating currently available motor analysis software tools to more accurately reflect the economic benefits of utilizing high efficiency industrial AC motors. To achieve this end, the project is installing 100 NEMA Premium™ motors in industry while testing the displaced, older motors in an accredited lab. Savings and paybacks will be calculated providing powerful case study information to disseminate to industrial and commercial motor users. In addition, the actual tested efficiency of the old motors will be made available to replace anecdotal estimates of baseline efficiency that is used in virtually all motor calculation software packages in use today.
